My Why…

For me, photography (and life) is all about the people

I love meeting folks, being in different cultures, environments and creating memories for them. I love connecting and bringing people together, and it’s something I always make space for in my day to day life. These days I’m all about bringing people together with food, outdoor adventures, river fires and walks.

Loves of my life

When I’m not behind the lens or working at my desk, you can find me hanging out with my lovebug Daniel (he’s lovely), my little ones Bruno and Timo! Of course I can’t forget our cat, Bella and Safa, our pup (who is a sucker for all the cuddles). My life has grown brighter and fuller over the years. Far from the city living in Vancouver B.C. and shepherding abroad. That being said, I wouldn’t say much has changed with who I am and what I love to do.
My roots

I grew up on my parent’s organic farm and I feel like that is where I get some of my inspiration and can-do-it-yourself mindset. It taught me to slow down and enjoy the small things. I’m a person who appreciates milling my own flour, canning fruit, freezing berries and vegetables. I love projects, finding something that inspires me and attempting to make it myself is satisfying. When I look around our home, I see so many projects that I am proud of and appreciate the imperfections, knowing I did them with my own hands.
Filling my cup

As much as I wish I had time to do everything I love consistently, sometimes a year can pass before I get to it again. Each season of life looks a little different, and I’ve learned to accept them as they come. My days are full of exploring with my little ones and soaking up family time. When I’m not doing that, you’ll find me having dinners with friends, growing my garden, playing volleyball, making pottery, skiing, or floating down the river. If that doesn’t fill my cup, a little tea with honey always does the trick. Oh, and I’m definitely in that chapter of my life where book clubs are my thing—yes, really! And if I’m lucky, I get to sneak away to the mountains for a little quiet or adventure.
Why photography

Why photography? That’s easy, for the memories.

Personally, I love looking back at my own photos and having those moments to cherish forever. To remember the laugh, cry, smells and emotions I find photos help me so much. Even now when I look back at photos from a year ago or from when I was little, it triggers my memories and brings them back to life. And what’s better than the fun and lovely moments of connection that happen at a wedding? You tell me.

What I Bring

I’ve been described as a force of energy …

I can usher in a calm and bring an amazing flow to the atmosphere. By being as emotionally present as everyone else in the room, my guidance and direction is grounded in what everyone needs. Other times I am energetic, walking 1000’s of steps, because I don’t want to miss the festivities happening in every corner. I’m right in the middle of the dance floor breaking a sweat and trying to catch my breath while dodging elbows.

Whether I’m laughing at the ridiculousness of it all with you or I’m observing everything from a distance—the truth is, my energy is always following your moments lead.

While photographing I become as unstoppable as what’s unfolding in front of me…

Even if that comes at the expense of me looking ridiculous or getting a little dirty–I refuse to let anything special or beautiful slip away

She is a breeze to work with, helped direct us, dove practically waist deep in a lake to get that ‘perfect’ shot
